Re powering Athearn Locomotives?
Posted by DaveDealz on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 9:04 AM

I am looking to re-power 2 Athearn SD-50s and an Athearn CW4400 in HO scale.  I was very excited about Ulrich's Kato Repowering Kit, however, they are on backorder.  Any advice on where to find a decent can motor, flywheels and cradle for my Athearns?  Thanks!

Hello All,

Go to Ebay and search for mrmuffinmanvw. Use the "Contact Seller" option to get in touch with him and let him know what you're looking for.

He deals in reconditioned Athearn stuff. He's a great guy that will treat you fairly. I've gotten some pretty obscure parts from him that have worked great!

Tell him that you got the reference from Jim in Colorado (jjdamnit).

Happy rebuild and I hope this helps.
