Any suggestions on installing a decoder (sound or not) in an early non dcc friendly HO scale Atlas C425 with the Kato drive.

Thanks

Should be a straight forward install.

As long as the new decoder is the same size as the original light board.

Many decoder manufacturers make drop in replacements for Atlas / Kato locomotives.

Buy yourself some LED's and resisters for lighting and you are good to go.

As for adding sound, in the locomotives I have converted I just removed one of the weights and installed the speaker enclosure there. Just make sure you leave room for your LED or bulb.

Good Luck
