I know this has been discussed in the past about substituting decoders that produced sound that is close. What is the latest on sound for a gas electric.
I was at an On3 layout about two years ago and the owner had (as I remeber it) a Galloping Goose that when he turned it on you could hear the motor turnover and start-up.
As always any help is appreciated.

I just listened to the Galloping Goose sound file on both sites, and I tend to prefer the Loksound version.
That being said, the Galloping Goose isn't a gas-electric, it's a direct drive gas engine. Going through the Loksound files, they also have a Volkswagen Bus sound file .... it's rather unique ! Even more odd, there's a sound file for a horse drawn carriage - the clopping the the horse's feet increases with the throttle !

Hmm, time to model horse-draw trolleys I guess... I wonder if there ever was a hi-rail type vehicle built off a Kombi (Bus) or Beetle - perhaps a speeder-type piece of equipment using a VW motor.
Don't overlook the various European types for special uses. Not for a Goose, but for other types of doodlebugs that were gas-electric, although many were later converted to diesel motors. Also not the same as an RDC, those are diesel-mechanical with hydraulic transmissions. Some of the Euro protoype sounds may be pretty close for the random gas-electric car that no longer exists so no one will be able to get actual prototype recordings from.
