I have an HO Atlas GP40 (Silver series) that I would like to Install a Sound Decoder; Soundtraxx or Loksound - would like to stay close to the $100 range (perferably less) Since it has a board on it already (8 pin) am I able to just make this easier and get a 8 pin Sound Decoder?
A LokSound Select with the NMRA 8-pin plug can be had for $85 and includes a speaker. Two possible sources are Litchfield Station in Glendale, Arizona, and Ulrich Hobby Shop in Colorado. And both will program them for the specific type of locomotive you select, since the basic decoder has only generic sound files loaded.
Great Thanks; Checked their Websites and got an EM back from Litchfield already (Jack) - Price is reasonable and very helpful.

Agree, loksound is the way to go nowadays. More options, motor control, better sound, and upgrade able. Soundtraxx hasent changed anything in years.
