Lenz LH100 throttle

Lenz LH100 throttle

I have a Lenz LH100 hand held throttle that displays LH100 and will not let me enter the addresses of the locomotives on my layout. I recently replaced my main power supply which burn out while running trains after 20 years of service. I have replaced the power supply and now the throttle appears to have gone bad also. Is there a way to reprogram this throttle or is it toast? I appreciate any reply.

Does the throttle power up?  Can you see the letters and numbers?  What happens when you push the CL button to enter a locomotive address?

When you said "main power supply," did you mean the base station, or the power supply that plugs into the wall and drives the base station?  Did the throttle ever work after you replaced the power supply?

Lenz throttles themselves have an address.  Check the manual for how to read and reset the throttle address.  Each throttle must have a different address.

On a Lenz system, the information about the locomotives is stored in the base station, so if you replaced that, you will need to re-enter the addresses (and how the functions behave) manually.

My LH-100 had a problem with its cord where it enters the throttle.  I opened the throttle (4 very small screws in the corners) and removed a couple of inches of cord, then reconnected it and it's worked fine ever since.

Speaking from experience when LH100 displays LH100 nothing can be done with it at all.

It usually meeans a wire has become disconnected at either the plug end (most likely) or inside the LH100 itself.

It's easy enough to repair the wire inside the throttle as I described above.  The plug is a commercially-available 5-pin DIN plug with 45-degree spacing.  They also make these with 60-degree spacing, so make sure you get the right ones when you order.

I noticed that the "LH100" display is part of the startup sequence when the system is powered up.  It appears to get stuck there.

If nothing else, Lenz USA is now at Tony's Trains.  Give them a call.  They have a good reputation.

Your suggestions for programming the LH-100 are most helpful. I recently came upon one that was In apparently good condition but would only display a 2-digit address and limited Function use. I suspect that it wasn't updated to my 3.6 Lenz Op System. Do you know if there a way to upgrade those displays to 4-digit addresses? I couldn't find any guidance in my manual. Thanks, Gary

Unfortunately Lenz has completely abandoned the North American market, and it doesn't look like the new owners have any plan to change that.

Contact Accessory Pathways, he is the Lenz support site.  (He is on holiday until Feb. 3, so you'll have to wait about three weeks for an answer.
