QSI Sound decoder
Posted by dano99a on Thursday, March 6, 2014 9:56 AM

So I want to put sound decoders in my proto 2000 Geeps, I want to use QSI. They have 2 flavors, which one should I get? I have never bought a QSI decoder before so any advice and tips/pointers would be welcome.

Thanks in advance!

You need to determine which one will fit into the model and where you're going to put the speaker, because that will possibly be the deciding factor of which decoder to get.

Why must it be QSI?  LokSound or Tsunami would be good alternative choices, depending on the amount of space available..

Well I have had a loksound decoder before and ended up hating it. Maybe it didn't like me I don't know.

The reason for QSI is because I have a few protos that came with them and I'm impressed with the sound quality and the authentic sounds plus since I'm putting this into older protos I can use the one Geep proto I have as a go by for speaker placement.

QSI has 2 decoders for HO scale one, from what I can tell from reading the description, is for Atlas and Athearn engines while the other is just generic and doesn't mention specific brands it fits with. Which is why I ask because I have never bought a QSI sound decoder and want to make sure I get the right one for my protos.
