LED stays on constantly???
Posted by Meyblc on Friday, February 14, 2014 4:28 PM

I recently installed a TCS A6x decoder into a locomotive. I also wired in 2mm LED's with resisters to the front and rear tabs on the A6X decoder. The front LED turns on and off with the 0 button pushed with the locomotive going forward, but the rear LED stays on constantly. I can not turn it off no matter what I do. in Reverse, the front LED turns off but the rear LED again stays on constantly even though I try to turn it off pressing 0.

Any idea's what I'm doing wrong? any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Reset the decoder, CV30=2, just to make sure but functions staying on constantly usually means the function is blown. TCS has a goof proof warranty though, so even if you accidently shorted it, the first replacement is free, so just send it in and you'll get a new one.

If, after the reset, the problem still exists and you don't want to wait for a warrantee replacement, you still have four more function pads available. You could always attach your rear light to one of those and remap the function to match the original F0 output.
