The Digitrax Zephyr is used if your layout is bigger. Cons of Digitrax is it takes up a whole room and is expencive.

I can't speak to the other systems you mentioned as I've not used them. But the idea that Digitrax generally or the Digitrax Zephyr specifically is only used for large, whole-room sized layouts is nonsense. I regularly use my Zephyr to run a 2 ft by 4 ft travel N scale layout, as well as my home around-the-walls bedroom empire. The Zephyr itself is quite small, perfect for a portable set up. And until you're at the mid-sized operations level running a dozen locomotives at once, I think it works very well indeed!

So for the Zephyr, I'd say ultra small to mid-sized (or larger if you are the sole operator) is the right range.

Takes up a whole lot of room and is more expensive?

LOL. The system units are about the same size, Digitrax taller but NCE a slightly larger footprint.

NCE PH-Pro 5 amp system, MSRP $530, Digitrax 5 amp Evo system, MSRP $450. And the NCE requires a power supply, which is included with the Digitrax.
