After seeing the video sent from Trainworld about the MC2 Mobile decoders from Soundtraxx I am very interested in the speed matching abilities that they claim. Soundtrax claims these were designed to speed match effortlessly with their Soundtraxx sound decoders. Since I have six locomotives that need to be matched to Soundtraxx sound decoders this is tempting. I currently have TCS decoders in these but I have not done any speed matching yet. It does seem like a black art right now.
Does anyone have one of these decoders running with a Soundtrax sound decoder? If so do they truely speed match effortlessly. It seems one would still have to go throught the machinations of speed matching due to differences in a locomotives mechanical drivetrains.
Thanks
SB
Yes, you still have to go through the steps to match them. It's that they have the same motor drive as the Tsunami, plus the same preset speed tables that makes it easier. If the two locos aren't completely similar, like different motors or different gearing, then it will be no easier matching than any other motor decoder in the non-sound unit. Or to look at it another way, it's a motor decoder also lacking the easy and convenient 3 step speed matching that every other decoder made today has, except Tsunami.
