Atlas machine contacts = Left, Center/Common, Right.

First push button contacts = A, B.

Second push button contacts = D, E.

Power supply contacts = 1, 2.

Button contacts A & D are wired together and go to power supply contact 1.

Switch machine contact C is wired to power supply contact 2.

Then button contact B goes to switch machine contact L.

Then button contact E goes to switch machine contact R.

Elmer.

The above is my opinion, from an active and experienced Model Railroader in N scale and HO since 1961.

(Modeling Freelance, Eastern US, HO scale, in 1962, with NCE DCC for locomotive control and a stand alone LocoNet for block detection and signals.) http://waynes-trains.com/ at home, and N scale at the Club.

That wiring diagram is not correct. Follow the wiring - soon as you press one of the button, you short the power supply ! This is how it should look ....

I belive this diagram has some problems.  The black common wire should NOT go to the push buttons.  As shown when one presses either button there is a short circuit.     Not to mention that both solenoids would be on all the time.  The only time common power should go to a push button is to power the lights if they are illuminated.

Replace the black common wire on the push buttons with the red power wire from the supply (instead of putting them on the load side) and all will be well.
