How to choose a DCC system
Posted by pdansalvish on Thursday, October 31, 2013 6:27 PM

I number of years ago, my wife purchased the Woodland Scenic HO Scale Grand Valley Layout kit.  She purchased this kit as a way for me to learn how to do things.  I have the track kit which includes 2 Atlas switches.  I want to set this system up to use DCC.  I want to run 2 trains.  Have the switches controlled remotely.  I want a DCC System that would like me to expand over time.  What would you recommend for this starter system?

I would suggest an NCE PowerPro  DCC system If your only going to run 2 trains it will have ample power for you needs

Easy to learn if your just starting in DCC

I started with this and have never had any problems and its so easy to use

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.

Either the NCE Power Cab or Digitrax Zephyr Xtra can provide what you want.  Both are excellent 'starter system' that are expandable.

Remote controlled switches are another issue.  Atlas has remote control switch machines.  They can be controlled from a 'panel' or controlled from your DCC throttle via a 'Stationary Decoder'.
