Need tip/advice for P2K E8 QSI Loco...teardown SORTED.

<p>Thanks, Randy.</p> <p>Don't know about that though.</p> <p>1st.....the take apart info for anyone searching this model of P2K is that there are two screws under each of the speakers. Both speakers and retainers have to be removed to access these to release the weight from the frame.</p> <p>2nd ...the electronics. I think the lack of movement was because of the model having one of those <i>stupid "clip" over wire-end through circuit board tab</i> connection systems. I've had troble with these before. I removed the clips and soldered the track pickups, motor leads etc. together and the loco works fine. I don't mind having to touch the solder iron to these a bit if I ever need to get it apart again...a little bit of extra time is a good tradeoff to get rid of the poor factory connections.</p> <p>The reason I don't think the disconnect mode was in play was that the motor would not work even with direct DC applied to the wheels or wheel pickups (it did work when applied to motor leads). And the sound with these works in DC regardless.</p> <p>Thanks again for all the responses.</p>
