Hi.
I need assistance with the following. I have 2 Proto 2000 factory equiped QSI Quantum DCC/Sound equiped units (920-31345 and 920-31346) which I have consisted using my MRC prodogy advanced squared. When using the consist address the diesel engine sounds come on, however, I am unable to control any of the other sounds (bell, horn, etc) or lighting using this address. What CV's need to be changed in order to control the sounds and lighting functions using the consist address. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Your friend is the NMRA and the answer is within CV21 and CV22

Thanks for the info, however, I am experiencing a mental block. Under CV21, what value must be entered in order for F1-F8 to function and the same for CV22 F9-etc? Is there a web site that explains the basics of CV programming? I recall an article in MR years ago in the DCC section explaining the basics which I must dig out. Thanks again for your assistance.

A value of 255 in CV21 will enable all functions from F1 to F8 inclusive. A value of 63 in CV22 will also enable functions F0 (front and rear light) and F9 to F12 inclusive.
You need the QSI Technical Reference Manual for the particular version of decoder you have in those locomotives, which should be available from either the QSI web site or the locomotive manufacturer's web site; however, you first need to determine which version of decoder you have by querying CV-7 if your Prodigy can do that.

Reinhard, may I suggest you purchase a Sprog and use JMRI to program your QSI decoders. Life will be much easier with these tools.

Perhaps a dumb question but should one program each of the locos in the consist on the program track with the recommended CV values? Or does one program the consist as a whole? If the latter, should this be done on the program track or on the main?
