What brand/source of cable crimpers do you use for 6p6c loco net flat cables? Buying premade cables is creating expensive spaghetti under my layout. I am a little wary of crimpers- I bought some for my cable TV work and they never worked well.

I get the modular phone connectors from allelectronics.com. 10 for $3. I bought the crimper there too, $14. I also get the wire from them, 50' for $4. Radio shack rarely has the wire, plugs and the crimper they sell is $34.
Radio Shack has two crimpers, a plastic one and a metal one. Get the metal one. Worth the extra $$. You can also find a modular crimper at Home Depot and Lowes, Ideal brand. That's also a quality tool. The good metal ones are $30 and up, but they have a lever action that makes sure the crimping pins push straight down on the connector, the plastic ones just have a pivot on the end and come in at a slight angle.
