dcc sound

on some boxes it has dcc sound and others it has dcc with sound.

is there a difference or is this just labeling?

There are locos with sound only and not DCC, like the BLI Blue lIne locos. You have to add a decoder for the motor and lights. Usually it will indicate DCC equipped or DCC ready on the box in addition to having sound. If it says DCC and Sound or DCC Sound it would indicate it has both.
