I know this question has been asked before but another post about MRC decoders got me wondering. Its been a while since this was last asked so wondering if there was an update
Since Trainfest has just passed I was wondering if anyone OTHER than MRC is going to make a sound decoder for this? I understand that the Genset is a lot harder to get the sound right due to its motor design.
I have a TCS decoder in it now and just love the motor control. It is a very smooth runner esp. at very slow speed, perfect for a switching engine.
I suspect the answer to my question is no but thought I'd ask.
Derek
Loksound is working on one, but it's still in the design stages. The hard part is getting the two diesel engines to start in accordance with the load. Those engines don't run based on the throttle setting, but rather engage when the load on the batteries require them to do so.
Problem is, trying to replicate a heavy or light load in a model train - especially when todays cars are so free rolling. It could be based on timing, but that isn't very realistic.
Once that aspect is ironed out, I'm sure it will be the most realistic offering possible. All the recordings are done, it's just a matter of getting it to function realistically.
Mark.

Thanks for the update Mark.
I'll have to keep a watch out on Loksound.
The Soundtraxx Tsunami drop-in Genset one is out now, has anyone any experience with it? I am looking at maybe picking one up for my Genset.
Modelling HO Scale with a focus on the West and Midwest USA
I listened to the Genset sound on Soundtraxx website yesterday and it was pretty good, but how it loads up is unknown to me. So, I too would like to know if anyone has installed one and how it works as far as loading up the 3 gensets.
Richard
I would like to know too.
In addition, its been a while since I had the shell off to install the TCS decoder. I can't picture where the speaker(s) need to go. What speaker did you sue and where did you put it.
As far as the ditch lights are concerned, how do they work with the Tsunami?
Thanks, Derek
