Hi everyone,
successfully installed the TSU-AT1000 into an RS-2 and very happy with the sound and performance. Instructions indicate the sounds effects include "Engine Startup and Engine Shutdown" however I can not find the information about how to activate the Engine Shutdown. Any advice appreciated
Cheers from sunny Brisbane Australia
I have very limited experience but when using manual notching F9 increases rpm and F10 decreases rpm. When idling pressing F10 once more will shuts it down, pressing F9 will start it again.

The control for this feature is CV116 wich handles your engine sound...two options...
If you set CV116=39...you have automatic notching. The engine sounds activate with track power and pressing "Em.Stop" on your control shuts it down.To re-start,a single "click" of the throttle knob triggers the engine start sequence. Then the sound increases with the loco speed.
If you set CV116=16...you get manual notching witch means the sound shouldn't come on with track power (but sometimes does). To trigger the engine start sequence, you use F9 then every time you press F9,the engine throttle sound increases a notch up to notch 8.When you want to decrease the engine sounds,F10 will do it one notch at a time down to notch 0 wich will trigger the shut down sequence.
CV116 doesn't control the loco's speed...your throttle knob still does...but there's a relation to eachother. With manual notching, the loco will not move at notch 0 (engine sound off) nor will the engine sound shut off if your throttle isn't backed to speed step 0.I like that feature. The only drawback to this is if you decide to operate with all sounds turned off (F8)...you still have to give the prime mover a notch or the engine won't move...though you can't hear it,you still have to start the diesel for the loco to move.Forgetting this feature may have you wondering..."why the darn thing won't move?".
I was forgetting a detail...if you elect to use "manual notching" wich is quite realistic you will need another setting. The default setting for F9 & F10 is manually controlling the engine fan and the compressor.By using them for manual notching, you lose this feature so you have to set them in automatic mode.By setting CV112=3,engine fan and compressor will randomly start and stop when the prime mover sounds are activated, wich is also prototypical.
Go to the SoundTraxx web site and download the Tsunami Technical Reference Manual (over 100 pages). You can scroll through it using Adobe Acrobat Reader to find any CV setting.
CV113 controls the time delay before the decoder automatically goes into shutdown mode once all the functions are turned off; i.e., lights, etc.
The decoder starts up again when its address is selected.
Thanks Peter, this makes sense. I appreciated your response, Cheers James
THANKS Jacktal. I prefer to remain with automatic notching, and indeed the emergency stop on the controller shut it down. Perfect! Thanks again, Cheers James
thanks Cacole, I now have the Tech Reference .pdf and I'm working through it. Cheers, James
