I'm new to layout building but i am familiar with DCC. I am just going to use a simple system for now but i was wondering could you remove the square part one on the red cord seen here: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFXV4 and solder the wires directly to the track. Thanks
Wire cutters and a stripper?

I knew I could do that I just didn't know if it would work or not but now I see it will
Yes, it's just plain wire with connectors on it, nothing special, other than it only fits in the Bachmann track terminal sections. Actually I thought it came with 2 pieces of wire, one with the Bachmann connector and one with just plain wires for use with other track - or maybe that's only if you buy the EZ system seperately instead of with a train set, since the train sets naturally have Bachmann track.
Yep, I just cut off the plug and split and stripped the wires.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
Mine came with two. One with the EZTrack connector and one with just two wires.
There is nothing special about the wires. Just cut the connector off or look in the box for the other one.
