Digitrax Duplex Radio problem
Posted by jpsewtrain@aol.com on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 10:34 AM

I have a Digitrax  UR92 Radio receiver and a DT402D Throttle. The Throttle will not go to  idle when the DCS is in sleep mode.Has any one else has this problem and if so is there a solution to the  problem? The DT100Rs will go to idle.

Welcome to the forum.

I have not had that problem, assuming you don't mean idle as in the throttle position/loco speed.   But it still likes to eat batteries.     I wouldn't imagine the throttle can bring the loco to idle with the DCS in sleep mode.

Your best bet would be to join the Digitrax Yahoo group. Google Digitrax Yahoo group. It seems the duplex system had some problems in the past and Digitrax has firm ware updates. Joe.

I've NEVER liked the idea of putting the system in sleep mode when leaving the layout. Just turn the whole works OFF. Much safer. And roll the batteries, or just take them out. Unless you are using the latest (and rather expensive) batteries, they will self-discharge between sessions anyway, even if the Loconet is alive and powering the throttle so it doesn't actively drain the battery.

The state of the system doesn't control the throttle going to idle - it will go to sleep after a period of time of inactivity, This is configurable in the throttle settings. It could be disabled. This was actually recommended to prevent loss of control when operating. There have been several firmware and radio updates for the DT402D and UR92. There are both throttle updates that apply to any DT402 series throttle, as well as radio board updates that only apply tot eh DT402D and UR92. You generally need a PR3 to install them, some have had success with a Locobuffer USB.

There's also a third category: In addition to the RF24 firmware updates, there's also a non-radio board firmware update for the UR92.  R6 released May 31st.
