Hey all. I've searched and searched for an issue to my problem, can't find anything. Probably because this is an issue I've never had or even heard of! here it goes. Not really needs a big explanation, but my N atlas RS11 can't be programmed. I know how to fix that, etc etc with the resistor and such. It came DCC equipped with the LENZ decoder. My N atlas SD50 (6726) is fitted with a digitrax decoder (forget which one). For some reason, when I select the RS11, the 50 acts like it's MU'ed to it. I've tried changing the address of the RS11, same thing. Changing the address of the 50, same thing. Only those 2 out of 11 locos are doing it. Any ideas? Eventually I want to change out that decoder of the RS11 so I can actually program it right, but I wanna save pennies here or is that the only solution?

WHat DCC system are you using? Maybe they ARE MUed. WHen you changed the addresses - do either one of them actually change which address they respond on?
Also make sure CV19 is 0 so they are NOT in an Advanced Consist and respond to their programmed address.

I'm using the zephyr xtra. Now my BNSF SD70ACe is just moving along at a slow pace by itself! CV19s check out on all locos, but something really WEIRD is going on. Everything moving on its own.
I don't know if this is true about the Zepher or not, but Digitrax systems can control a DC loco by using address 0 or 00. If your DCC locomotives do not have the DC part turned off, it may be possible that is what is happening that is making them all move.
The next thing would be: when programming, I think you should be using a programming track and not using Ops mode on the layout. If you were to do that, particularly since you are new to DCC, it is possible that you could be programming all your locomotives at once.
Again, since this is new to you, I suggest that you remove all other locos from your layout except the one you want to program. This will insure that only the one loco is being programmed.
We have all been there at one time or another. Just be methodical and do one thing at a time.

I may be new, but I've done my research before I sunk into this. I do all my programming on a separate programming track in direct mode.

One other thing to try is to reset the Zephyr to its factory defaults. This is done with an OpSw setting. I was having some weird loco issues and in desperation after many trying other things I reset my Zephyr and the problem went away. Maybe a Troll elimination?
