Hey Guys,
Throwing a Tsunami into a big boy finally! I wanted to use the firebox flicker, do you guys use an led for this? Would you use a colored led or clear? Thoughts? Never done this before!
Thanks in Advance!
Doug
Ideally, you would want to use a red LED with a current-limiting resistor for the flicker. I've thought about doing this myself, but finding one small enough for N scale is a little daunting, not to mention the space.
I use small LED's with magnet wire (size 0402 or 0603), yellow/orange and red color (connect each on separate function output on Tsunami, programm them to work out of phase (phase A and phase B).
I am sure you can find LED's like these on ebay from US supplier, or buy them here (this supplier is from Germany):

Front and rear light are connected to the same output, so you even have one output left for cab light.
I think LED size 0402 can even fit in N loco, at least for firebox flicker.
Of course, with all LED's you need resistor.
