I had a B LI diesel with a bad QSI decoder several years ago, and BLI replaced it and paid the shipping both ways.  This was not really BLI's fault, but QSI's.

As far as BLI steam locomotives go, we have around six of them at our HO scale club and none of them have had any problems, but none of us use smoke.  If the locomotive comes with it, we immediately turn it off so the oily smoke fluid does't mess up the track and scenery.

The smoke units are burning out early on a lot of BLI's locos. Its best not to leave them dry and with track power just sitting. I have switched mine off as soon as I get them. On a couple of them I took them out and put more weight in the boiler. To me the smoking loco is a toy like gimmick that I could do without. I get enough oily smoke from work and do not need it in the train room.

I have 2 BLI AC6000s and they have ben fine.   My concern with BLI is that they don't have many repair parts which I needed when building one of those which was undecorated--I broke some parts.

The eletronics are fine in my AC6000CWs also, wish they will make so sound AC6000CWs because of the price and will like to get two more in the new CSX scheme.

I did exactly what Pete did.  One of them had a slide switch connector so I could turn it off manually; the other I had to turn off via the CVs.  And, on one unit, I believe that it was the smoke unit that was causing shorting problems when I was trying to initially program the long address.

Smoke units may look kinda cool but they leave an oily mess all over your layout.  No thanks...No

Let me guess, josey...You updated Internet Explorer (IE) recently to IE9.  Solution: Go up to your URL (address) bar and click the torn paper icon on the right.  This will emulate a version of IE8 because the forum software still isn't compatible with IE9.
