Posted by Schmidly on Monday, November 21, 2011 8:08 AM

HI, I have a Bachmann GP 40 and a Spectrum 2-10-0 DCC Tsunami sound. I'm using a Digitrax DSC51. Everything runs great execpt that the lights don't  work. I tried changing the step speed to 28 and that did not work. I'm new to this so any advice would be very heapful

My thoughts, too.  Newcomers to DCC sometimes don't realize that you now control the lights.  Press F0 to turn them on.  Some controllers may have a button labelled "Lights."

Note too that the default setting is for the lights to be directional (on only in direction of travel.) If you hit F0 while looking at the front headlight, it won't go on if the engine was last operated in reverse.

If you installed the decoders yourself, note that if it's an 8-pin plug in and you turn it around the wrong way, often the engine will run but the lights won't work. If they're factory installs you shouldn't have to worry about that.

BTW I'd change the speed steps back, that shouldn't affect the lights one way or another.

Yes, thanks for the quick reply. They are working on the GP40, but I had to take the body off to see them work. A little dim.The headlamp on the steam loco still does not work. Bulb must be now working.

again, Thank You
