Hi, what sound decoder is suitable for a previous KATO SD90/43MAC, that is without place in the tank to fit an speaker? Thanks.

I put Soundtraxx in 2 of those locos.  Using the AT format and  two 1.06 HB speakers.  The prime mover is a 710 which is also the same as an SD70(not the newer chip for SD70ACe).   I put the speakers in the radiator pointing up.   I had to modify the radiator and speakers.   First I had to cut down the sides of the speakers to fit within the angled radiator areas.    Second I had to very carefully drill out under the fan areas to open them up under the grills.    These things sound awesome now and I must run at about 25% volume a lot of times.     If you want, you can completely drill out the fans and add back in some from Detail Associates or equivalent.   I used a filler material to seal off the speakers where the faces meet the fan area.

Since I added ditch lights and the AT format has 1.5 Volt out capability that's one of the reasons I chose it.

Richard, thanks you. In the web there was an article about this topic, with photos. Anybody remember where? Thanks again.
