HO Proto 1000 E7A
Posted by alloboard on Monday, November 7, 2011 11:46 PM

I'm installing a Digitrax SDH164D on a HO Proto 1000 E7A. How should the yellow, (light) black, (light) be wired on to the Digitrax SDH164D. I guess the color codes of these locomotives are still not set to universal standards. I've easily hard wired decoders in other locomotives weather the color of the wires match or not bu using common sense and tracing where the wires lead to, but some are a pain in the butt like this one!

is this the one with the mars light ? if so you mite NOT get the mars light to work proper ,If I recall the factory board did not play nice  ,not sure here though. I normally change out the factory bulbs for Leds but have not done lighting effects w/the sdh164 ,so you have to down load the fx instructions from digitrax...Sorry ..Jerry

I just hooked the front headlight output from the decoder to the mars light board. Works fine for me. Did three of them that way.

How exactly did you connect the wires? Like white, (F0R-) blue, (common+) Digitrax  into black(light) yellow (light) E7A

I folded the black and yellow (light) wires from the E7A and I folded the blue (common) and white (F0R-) wires from the decoder and joined all the wires together.
