In the recent issue of MR, Mike Dannemann says that his DRG&W uses "DC cab control with six radio-controlled walk around throttles". What kind of radio control is he using? I know that there used to be memory units with tethered cabled throttles in the 70's, but is he using some kind of home-built units? Today, of course many are using DCC radio control, but I don't think I've heard of DC with radio control throttles!

Train Engineer systems are used extensively for DC wireless control by NTRAK clubs. See starting on page 20 of their catalog.
I wonder how many use this system in HO? Looks like it is used for DC power.
Thanks for the info.
A few use the system. Tehre are multiple options. One has the radio receiver int he loco - that's mainly inteneded for large scale. The other otions used fixed receivers under the layout, which will work for any scale. You can either use one receiver per block, or one recevier per cab and use some sorf ot block control. It's not really suited to a basic A/B centralized switch scheme like Atlas wiring components, as that sort fo defeats the freedom of the wireless walkaround. More sophisticated DC cab control systems llow you to just drive, which is really the whole point.
