Bachmann B Unit Spinning in Place
Posted by jgschmieg3 on Friday, July 15, 2011 7:05 PM

Recently purchased the Bachmann Erie DCC Equipped A and B units.  The A unit is working fine, but the B unit is pretty loud and spins in place.  The A unit is just pulling the B unit around the track.  Can anyone help?

If you meen the wheels are spinning, then one truck is not working. could be a drive shaft coupler cracked or spinning on one of the worm gear shafts.

You will need to look at it closely to determine if one set of wheels on a truck is not working and go from there. could also be the gears in the trucks.

Also make sure you have it going in the same direction as the A unit.

Also remove the shell of the offending unit to see what the drive train is doing.

Bachmann diesel models are notorious for bad and noisy drivelines. It's seems to be a crap shoot as some work great while another (same model) isn't worth the shipping charge.

I've a few Bachmann models and they are for display only and not worth adding DCC. But that is my opinion only and have seen other posts from others that love them.

Are you running them on DCC?

Do they have the same address or are they consisted?

Have you turned off Back EMF?

Is it going the same direction as the A unit?

Are they speed matched using CV2, 5, and 6.

Is momentum set too high and deceleration set too high?

These are some of the questions that need an answer.
