Athearn SD70ACe problems
Posted by johngriffey18ca1 on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 8:33 PM

I fire up my Athearn SD70ACe on DC and have no problems.  But on DCC, the engine won't do anything...startup, move...nothin!  I tried to factory reset by setting CV 8 to 8 but nothing.  Any ideas?

Can you read any CVs on the program track? What decoder is in it?

It's the Tsunami that comes with it and no I can't seem to read any CV's on the program track.

I would send it back for a replacement.

David's advice is what helped me to clear up a similar problem with a Tsunami equipped Athearn.  Trying to do a factory reset on the program track did not work but did in OPS mode on the main.  Also you need to set CV 29 manually since the automatic setting that some throttles do doesn't seem to work in this case.

Have you tried to run the locomotive on DCC address 3?   That's the factory defalt address that is set on practically every decoder.
