Apparently, your computer's web browser has, too.

Georgia,

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that you updated your browser to IE9?

FYI: If you go up to your URL (web address) box, just to the right of that you'll see an icon that looks like a torn sheet of paper.  If you click on that icon it will emulate IE8 so that you can post on the forum.  IE9 isn't compatible with the forum yet.

If your atlas gold loco died first try hitting the F6 key a couple of times.  This is the start up key.

It's needed after F9 has been hit a couple of times (Shutdown)  The loco will act like it's dead until F6 is pressed.

If that doesn't work then try a decoder reset.

I recently bought an Atlas Gold GP 40-2 that ran well out of the box.  When I programmed in the 4 digit cab number it ran for a few minutes and then "died".  I tried the startup procedure with no luck and finally did a reset using the CV method in the manual.  It worked and the loco has been running flawlessly since.

Tom-

You're a genius! That fixed it and it really makes no sense to me but, it works. The world of computers, e-mails, texting, and on and on is great but, how did it get so complicated.

Thanks to all the helpful friends on the forum not only for modeling help but navigating through the internet as well.

You should lock this thread now and use the other one to continue working on your problem.

Never forget, Failure is not an option, It comes bundled with Windows. I have used Firefox Browser for over seven years with pop up blocker, flash blocker, ad blocker and download helper add ons.

How about plain old F8, Enginut2?  Maybe you have it muted by mistake, or have forgotten you had muted it some time in the past?   Try F8, then try double-tapping F6 if the former doesn't work.  If it still only gives you a second of sound after the wake-up F6, then you have an amplifier problem in the decoder.  Some decoders can be sent in for repair/exchange.  Check with the manufacturer.
