Signal wiring
Posted by UPABILENE on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 12:29 AM

I just purchased on ebay 2 lower quadrent 2 light sempaphore signals that have  no wiring instuctions and no manufatures name. They  Appear to have never been hooked up.They are of all metal construction with relay base with 2 white wires for the light which looks like it is a bulb and 3 wires red, black and green for postioning the arm. The only signal I can find that looks like it is an NJ international 1010. This signal has a white pole with tall black relay base. I was  hoping someones could help me out before I try to make them work on my own. I dont mind loosing the light, but I don't want to burn out the activation mechanism. Thanks

Post a photo if you can so we can identify the signal.

It sounds like the light source is an incandescent bulb, not an LED.

You may need to add resistors to avoid burning out the bulbs.
