Unable to run analog locos on Digitrax, help!
Posted by fireman205 on Sunday, May 8, 2011 12:37 AM

Hey gang really hoping someone can help me out on this one.  My layout is close to finished and I have been working on various locomotives with no issues until this point.  Tonight I was trying to diagnose an issue and my digitrax system has up and left me in a bind and will not run a non-decoder equipped loco anymore.  I've had no issues until today, wondering if I did something wrong somewhere and if anyone out there can help me!  Thanks in advance for your time.

Did you try address zero?

Also make sure that power is on the track.  Digitrax has three modes on some of their systems, off, on, and on with track power.  With the DCC signal applied to the rails you should hear a buzzing sound from a DC (no decoder installed) locomotive.

More details are needed to really figure out what is going on.

You need to "Throw" option switch 20 on your command station. Somehow you closed it and disabled analog stretching. Can't give you the exact steps because the model wasn't mentioned in your post.

It will be in the manual in a section title worded like "Option Switch set up" or "Customizing your DCSXXX"

I'll see what I can do.  I have the Super Empire Builder and have run my analog locos on address 00 before.  For some reason last night is when it locked up.  I have a DB150 command station and DT402 throttle.

Since you have an Empire builder set, you could close option switch 39 and reset the DB150 to factory defaults. I have a feeling that if option switch 20 was inadvertently closed, there may be others. Option switch 39 will get you back to its default  "new, out of the box" settings.

Got it fixed!!! Not sure which one worked, I tried option switch 20 (thrown) as well as option switch 39 (closed) to reset the throttle and I'm back to working like I was before.  Thanks for the help, much appreciated especially as a newbie to the MRR forums!
