I have a wheel cleaner that sits on the track and cleans wheels as they turn. But to do a good cleaning after the shell is off, what do you do to lube and other things to get it running like new? This N scale.

Before lubing anything start by cleaning all moving parts as good as possible.

Lube any gears with a quality grease that contains PFTE. Other moving parts you just use a light weight plastic safe oil.  Just remember that all moving parts that contact another part should be lubricated.
