I wanted to install sound in my two lifelike SD60's ho engines. I got a digitrax DH165LO mobile decoder and SFX004 sound decoder. The 28 mm speaker is too big for the shell. I am looking for suggestions.
I believe that any 8 Ohm speaker will work(as long as it fits) lots of options available. Even though it comes with a 32 Ohm, I believe the manual says you can use an 8 ohm
If you were going from scratch, I would recommend a Tsunami enclosed HB speaker.

MR just did a sound decoder install in last month's issue (I think it was last month) and they had a very tight fit and found an oval speaker that fit the shell of that little loco just fine. Maybe that will work for you too. I cant remember how much room was in the inside of that engine, I have 3 but put decoders in them about 5 years ago.

I've done 3 of these (1 more to go). I use a 16x35mm speaker with a baffle. I also remove some weight. I remove the weight while still in the locomotive by turning it upside down and clamping it in a vise. You need to be careful with the metal filings but done properly, it can save a bit iof time.
