4-6-0 Airfix Local Royal Scots Fusilier L.M.S. Livery... was good in its day but when repairing for a friend found that the motor had overheated causing the plastic rotory motor case to melt. Actually the motor shaft heated the bearings to where the plastic melted throwing the centre of gravity off causing the gears to jam.
Bottom line the motors(or case anyway) is toast... I know Airfix has been sold a couple of times but I have tried a few places on the internet for motors including Hornby but none seem to fit!
Does anyone know of a good supplier of old british parts and motors? Maybe on this side of the pond?
Since you are talking about a model that is 30 plus years old I think that it is very unlikely that anyone carries spares for it. Airfix did not offer trains for very long and it is not clear to me if the model you have carried on under the banner of one of the successor companies? I have been a customer of Abbiegail's Hornby spares and they seem to be one of the larger parts suppliers, but sadly they no longer ship to North America.

Hmm, I'd be surprised if there weren;t at least one such place in Canda, since there was much greater use of the various UK manufaturers stuff then there was down here, at least goign by various published stories. Or maybe it was only the Brit ex-pats who all started with Hornby who got their Candian layouts published, skewing the results.
If the loco is somethign of value that you want to have running, and not necessarily a perfect restoration, you can probably find any number of motors and bits to connect it up from NWSL. Likely you will need to make some sort of mounting block to hold a new motor, but it would give you a runnign loco, probably better than it ever was.
