Hi,Ihave just bought a new Walthers proto 2000 USRA 0-6-0 with QSI sound, and a few weeks earlier a new Bachmann Spectrum Russian Decapod 2-10-0 with Tsunami sound.Does anyone know exactly which QSI decoder model is in the 0-6-0?(I haven't looked inside yet) I would want to download the right manual.
I do have opened the tender of the 2-10-0, and I see two boards, why is that?Shouldn't the tsunami be able to handle it all?Or what tsunami decoder is it?

CV 7 will tell you which version of decoder software you have in those locos, and you can then use that data to find the applicable manual for the QSI. If you get a reading like 31 that means decoder software version 3.1.
There are two boards in the 2-10-0 because the Tsunami decoder is just plugged into the stock Bachmann constant lighting board instead of removing that board and soldering the decoder in. That makes installation much cheaper and faster for Bachmann. Otherwise you'd have to be paying for Bachmann's time and labor costs to remove the board that was installed at the factory in China and solder the Tsunami into place.
Why doesn't Bachmann just ship the Tsunami decoders to China and have them installed at the factory instead of the constant lighting board? There may be something in the import/export laws that would make Bachmann pay to export the decoders to China and then turn around and pay an import fee when they came back to the U.S.
Best thing to do with the QSI chip is read the revision in program track mode
The manuals arent' too different but here's the link to them:

As to the tsunami with 2 boards sometimes they leave the base board in for dropping resistors etc for the lighting or other accessories.
