MTH SD70M-2 memory
Posted by Silveradobo on Monday, January 24, 2011 8:36 PM

I have an MTH HO SD70M-2 and after I program from default 3 to the cab number, run the loco and then turn off the system, it will not retain the cab number. I have tried waiting like it says in the omwners manual but still does the same thing. Any ideas? Thanks!

Are you programming on the main or program track?  should be done on the main.  Also how are you setting the address? The insturctions suggest you set CV29 to avalue of I believe 38 while on the main to get the cab number.

Oh and welcome to the forums Welcome

I had the same problem with a pair of their SD70ACe's - solution is to send them back to MTH to get fixed....

I think I had to program mine with the individual numbers/CVs.      Even though my Digitrax system with program booster programs many sound locos, etc without problems, I want to say it didn't work with this one as a 4 digit automatic programming.    Either on the main or program track.

When in doubt do a reset of the decoder.

I have reset the decoder to address 55 CV 55 to a value of 55, that reset the decoder to factory setting address 3, but still will not save that setting. I will send it for service, just thought there was a way to not need to do that. Thanks for all the help I have received.
