I have a couple of them. Nice effect. But it cannot be shut off and you must always use that car on the end of the train.
I have one that has a square with the electronics under the truck.. Seems to snag things on the track now and then so I stick with the good ole caboose.

You've got to keep those wires tucked up out of the way. Thats the only problem with them i've found.
On mine the little circuit board snags sometimes. Gave up on it since it always seems to rear it's ugly head the worse possible time.
I ran mine at the club for an hour with no issues. I just used a dab of Walther;s Goo to hold the wire to the bottom of the couple box. Just enough slack for the truck to swivel. We use 22 inch radius curves.
I let the Goo set for a few minutes and wet my finger tip a little, press the wire into place and it is unseen unless you look real close.
As far as being stuck on one freight car, we are really boys playing with toys. Most of us have never worked on a real railroad.
Model railroading is an analogy of the real thing and all analogies break down somewhere.
Greatest thing since sliced bread. I've got five of them.
No dragging. Never assume a model railroad loco or rolling stock will be OK out of the box.
