Decoder mystery

I was recently given a lifelike engine and I'm trying to find out what kind of decoder is in it. Its an older decoder/sound effects. The serialbnumber on the side says ho355s45. please help.

A quick online search revealed that HO355 S256 is/was an MRC sound decoder, so my guess is it's some type of MRC unit.

Read CV8 on the program track. This will give an NMRA manufactures code.
