How can I diasble BMEF on a Tsunami decoder?
Posted by gmh1953 on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 3:08 PM

I need to disable the BMEF on a GS4 that uses a Tsunami heavey steam decoder.  I see several cv's but am confused as to what one will disable the BMEF. Or is there a way to increase the gain on the motor control to increase the speed.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Lookign at the tech ref manual here: http://www.soundtraxx.com/manuals/tsutechreference.pdf it looks liek CV212 is the problem - that ocntrols the BEMF intensity and the manual says it is set to 255 from the factory - no wonder the loco is jerky. Turn it down, not off. And also use CV10 to cut off BEMF above a certain speed step - default is 0 which seems to mean never cut off, settig it to say 60 would make it stop using BEMF after speed step 60 out of 128. This way you cna have BEMF to get started and run slowly but no 'cruise contrl' at speed. Setit to cut off BEMF at a farily low speed step - 20 or 30 maybe.
