I have more than five locomotives and discovered when the cab is unplugged only the last five addresses are retained. Bummer.
So I wanted to buy at least one walkaround. Except they don't seem to be available. MRC has the 0001408 on their site but not the walkaround. Why would they still offer the base set and discontinue the walkaround?
I have called them, left a message and call back number. No call back as of yet. I will give them a couple of days.

I don't know that the Express can even support additional cabs. You can get an Advanced cab which would upgrade your system to Advanced level capabilities. Or just key in the loco you want to run instead of relying on a recall stack. Lots of people have far more locos than their DCC system can 'remember' at one time.

It does support multiple cabs. From the manual "The base unit is able to power six cabs." With an added powered extension plate another five may be added. The max number of cabs is twenty.
It appears to have been discontined:
Prodigy Express Handheld Cab
Like Randy said, just get an Advanced cab. I think the reason the Express cab was discontinued is it wasn't much cheaper than the Advanced cab anyway, so not many people were buying it.

A call to MRC verified that the Advance cab is what I need to get. I was told there was only a 10 dollars difference which lead to the Express cab being discontinued.
I was also told that I would not have the 28 functions available to the Advance, but 19. I don't know what the 19 are so I doubt I will miss the additional 9.
You won't miss anything, unless you have sound locos that have all the upper functions used and not remappable - usually the higher number ones are used for junk like ambiance sounds - farmyards, station calls, city counds. Stuff that doesn't belong coming from your loco in the first place, but since memory is cheap, and 28 sounds better than 12, they're cramming this stuff down our throats.
