I have a couple of Atlas RS-11 s and have them converted to DCC and I now want to add sound. My dilema is that I am not up on all the electronics and just need to know what I need to do this. Do I have to just add a sound decoder or remove the dcc decoder and add a cobo motor sound decoder? Any and all help would be appreciated. I have been modeling for over 50 years and wish I had some of this gear when I started modeling.
As with any sound installation, space is always at a premium. That being said, adding another decoder just for the sound is going to eat up valuable space that you could be using for your speaker. Your best bet is to use a decoder like the Atlas-style Tsunami for both motor control and sound .... I'm sure you'll find another home for the old decoder !

Thanks Mark, I just wasn't sure how they worked so this gives me the excuse to go to the hobby shop.
Do a Google search for Atlas RS-11 speaker
There are some samples I have seen and vary some. Go with a single sound/motor decoder, not a motor decoder and sound decoder. QSI has a sound/motor decoder for this loco.
