I went DCC around 4 years ago. One of the first set on engines I made DCC where my PK 1000 F-3's. I had done some Athearn RTR and PK 2000's and do remember the PK 1000's where a little different but I got them done.
Fast forward to now. Tonight I went to install decoders in some other PK 1000 F 3's I got from Monon Jim. This part was not under the printed circuit board.
On the underside there is a 8 pin connector.
I found my original printed circuit boards from the first set of PK 1000's and there is no 8 pin socket for this plug to plug into?
Only numbers I could read are 440-XOO1R2.
I sure don't remember buying them, but I guess I must have. Is it a Digitrax part number or a Proto number?

If I'm not mistaken that's a Proto number. I ran across some boards like that in some older Proto 2000's I converted to DCC.

Proto = We change things up as we see fit. Just different runs, the ones without the little board with 8 pin plug are the older original ones, that one is a newer one. Looks liek the newer one could use a decoder liek the DH163/165L0 and not change the stock bulbs.

Ken.
Proto locos are like a box of Cracker Jack. You never know whats in them for electronics. About six years ago I bought a pair of FAs. Both units had different boards. One had the old board with no plug. The other had the giant jumper in the little plug you have pictured. Both units had numerical sequence of road numbers making them an AA unit. The product number was one off from each other making them the same run. I can not figure whats up with that. So far I have seen 7 different boards in P2K locos ( Not including the QSI). The most common is the plug style you have pictured and the board replacement/ Atlas looking board. I usually always hard wire a JST harness in the P2K /P1K locos.

I pray every day I break even, Cause I can really use the money!
I started with nothing and still have most of it left!
Thank you guys, guess I will be hard wiring the rest of them.
