Does the F40PH Diesel locomotive AMD103/P42, Acela HHP-8/trainset Acela NYC E7A, GG-1 have interior cab lights, if so I will install cab lights in them. What size incandescent bulbs will I need? How will I lodge the lights bulbs and will they need a resistor?
Cab lighting for locomotives is similar to cab lighting for automobiles - they have them, but usually leave them turned off (except for lighted instruments and controls.)
In steam days, the NYC had a couple of 15 watt bulbs in the cab, placed where they wouldn't shine on the front windows or in the engineer's eyes.
Likewise, caboose lighting was usually limited to one light, not too bright, over the conductor's desk.
In all cases, the objective was to preserve the night vision of people who had to see what was going on in the darkened world outside.
