Hello all
I have an Atlas N scale DCC equipped loco that runs about a third of the speed of it's cousins. It has done so since I got it. I tried setting CV8 to 33 and it still does the same. Shell off everything seems to run smooth but it's just slow. Any idea's or suggestions?

adjust CV 2 so the loco just starts to move on speed step 1. set CV's 3 and 4 to 0. set CV 5 to 255 and CV 6 to 150. If it still runs slow the drive may be tight.
Check CV29 to be sure that the speed table is turned off. It should be after a reset but the speed table is not cleared on a reset.Check for binding in the mechanism if the speed table isn't active. Perhaps swap the decoder with one of its cousins just to rule out the decoder.
That decoder doesn't have mid speed and max speed.

These are a couple of years old. I ran N scale for a few months before switching to HO. Getting ready to put the 5 loco's I have for sale. I think I found the answer though. Turns out that Atlas had 3 motors out there. A fast version, Slow version and Scale version. The other units I have have the original fast motor and the "slower" one has the, You guessed it. Slow version, which is more to scale. It will creep slower than a snail if you want it to.

I thought you meant all were SD35's and one ran slow.
Don't forget to describe them properly on EBAY. Motor will make a difference to the buyer.
They are all SD35's. The other 2 have the "Black" end motor which they call the fast motor. The slower one has the "Gray" end motor which they call either the slow or scale speed motor. Apparently there are 3 different motors that Atlas has used.
