Hello,I have Athearn Genesis B&O F3A engine, with the MRC sound decoder. Recently, I bought F7A engine, also Genesis, also B&O. It is DC now, but I plan to add decoder in it, plain/non-sound, quality decoder.
I want to pair them into consist, so they can ocassionally pull the trains in tandem. I use CV19 to make consists, as my DCC unit does not have more complex consisting.
My questions are:- can anybody provide any info about it?- if yes, which decoder you have succesfully consisted to the MRC decoder?
Anything else on the subject or close is welcome! Thanks!
Pretty much any motor decoder should consist with any other. Setting the decoders up properly is the important thing.
What kind of DCC system do you have? This will be helpful in fine-tuning the answers.
Once the second decoder is installed, it's important to "speed match" the engines. Usually, this is just a matter of playing with CVs 2 through 6, so that the two engines will start at the same throttle setting (CV2) accelerate and decelerate together (CVs 3 and 5) and move at the same speed as you advance the throttle (CVs 5 and 6.)
I have a Lenz system, which allows me to run a consist either from the consist address or from any of the locomotive addresses. I usually run from the address of the lead engine, which gives me easy access to the sounds and lights of the lead engine.
Oh, and nice picture, too.
