Hi all,
I've just got one of the new BLI Paragon2 PAs in N scale, and I'm trying to program it. Trying being the operative word. Despite the manufacturer's assurance that both Lenz and Digitrax systems can read back and program the model (as written in the instruction manual), none of the CVs I've put in seem to stick - it's stuck on the default values. Is there anything I'm missing regarding the programming of this loco? I'm not using a programming track booster.
Thanks in advance,
tbdanny

I do not have any Paragon 2 decoders but have read up on them. If that decoder has a reset jumper it may be in the wrong position reseting the decoder to default every time it powers up. That is the first thing to check.

I pray every day I break even, Cause I can really use the money!
I started with nothing and still have most of it left!
The Lenz system does not allow you to set the address in Ops mode - and I've tried it in both ops and programming track mode with the same (lack of) results, on both the PR3 rig and Lenz tracks.

Pete,
I've just realised you may be right on the money. My loco makes the coupler clank sound every time it starts up, which according to the BLI website happens after a reset. I hope it's a jumper rather than a reset button that's at fault - if it's a button, I'll need to send it back to the dealer in Bundaberg for a replacement.
Cheers,
Update:
There was no jumper on the board, but there was a pushbutton mounted to the PCB. Doing a hardware reset of the decoder with this button freed up whatever was jamming the programming. Thanks for all the advice. I never would have thought to try looking inside the model.
Your welcome.
