Hi all, I'm adding a second UR-90 to my layout and I'm baffled by one part of the instructions. It says that I can run up to ten panels from one power source if I "Wire together small holes (filled with solder) on UPs". Their diagram isn't very helpful (an actual photo would be nice!). It's not clear if you're supposed to solder a wire to...well, a hole, or if there's a hole filled win with solder (if it's filled in, is it a hole?)
I would think a screw terminal or something similar would be a lot easier.
If anyone has wired UR-90 or UR-91s together like this, I'd really appreciate a few hints as to what I'm supposed to do.
Thanks, Bill
It is a pre-soldered hole, so if you are being pedantic the hole is filled, so perhaps is not an actual hole, but I assure you the hole exists beneath the solder. It is in exactly the place that the diagram indicates. Simply plug the power supply into the first of the panels and then run this single wire, daisy chain style from panel to panel, soldering to the indicated point on the panel. Works like a charm.

Want another way, find a similar coaxial plug (probably cna get them at Radio Shack), and splice in a new pair of wires to the ones coming from the PS14, then plug in to the second UR90 just like the first. The thing I don;t like about runnign justteh one wire from hoel to hole on the panels is that the ground side is then int he Loconet cable - fine phone wire. WHile this might be fine if you link a bunch of UP5's and only plug in 1 or 2 throttles, when you power up UR90/91/92 modules AND possibly plug in wired throttles as well, you might get too much voltage drop. UP5 panels only draw power when a throttle is plugged in, the IR and radio modules need power to run the radio even if no throttle is plugged in.

Thanks guys, I'll see how it looks now. It does seem like it could have been designed better, given that everything else with the Digitrax stuff is pretty easy and doesn't require soldering. Since I do plan on having 5 or 6 panels eventually, it would be nice to just use one power source.
