got me a broadway limited 4-6-4 that needs electrical help
Posted by rs2mike on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 9:54 PM

Ok just piked up a broadway limited paragon2 4-6-4 that needs some work.  It is missing all the guts to the tender.  First off does anyone have the directions that go along with this engine?  Second is how can I get this engine to work without haveing to buy the guts to the engine.  I have no problem buying the guts because I got the engine for 29.00 so I have some room to spend on the guts.  I was wondering If I could hook up a tsunami decoder and be able to run it or no.  I am also missing the wiring between the tender and cab quick connect.  I have written bli about parts but i have no part numbers to reference to tell them.

Parts I need are tender truck assembly, truck screw and spring, electrical guts and wire hookup to cab.  Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Mike

Ok so broadway limited said they do not have replacement parts for the hudson available anymore.  How can I get this thing to run again.  It has a plug in the engine that the tender has to plug into.  If I had a plug I could wire my own decoder in it.  Any thoughts or recommendations on this.

Thanks

Mike

If you can't find a replacement tender plug, couldn't you replace the plug from the engine with another (easier to find) one?

Finding those plugs is proving elusive.

I believe the form factor is "JST", but the pitch, or distance between pins is smaller than I can find anywhere.

I'd love to find some myself.

Problem with replacing them with something else is how do you get one small enough with enough connectors?

Closest I can get is whatever the CD audio connector is (IDC form factor, I think), and that's only 4.

Everyone so far has simply answered "Mouser, Jameco, etc", but not provided any part numbers.

I have three or four of those style catalogs and can't find them.

What would you suggest.  I got word from bli today that they could find a truck assembly that would work.  They also gave me the wiring diagram for the engine as track motor light light motor track.  I could hard wire it I guess but I don't want all those wires hanging around.  Any suggestions?
