Special wiring for Atlas Crossing
Posted by HaroldA on Saturday, January 30, 2010 6:18 AM

My layout uses DCC and I am installing an Atlas Crossing between the diverging legs of two Shinohara turnouts.  Are there any special wiring needs for the crossing?

Thanks

No, Atlas track products are completely insulated so nothing special is required for them; however, the Shinohara turnouts may require insulated rail joiners, depending on which code of rail, what scale you are modeling in, and which turnouts you have.  There have been changes to Shinohara turnouts over the years.  You need to check them with a VOM before installation to determine whether they need anything special in the way of electrical insulation to prevent shorts.
