i'd like to make DB9 F to RJ11 Cable

i'd like to make DB9 F to RJ11 Cables for a DCC programs like the JMRI's DecoderPro

 so how can i make the DB9 F to RJ11 Cable

 Never tried that but my guess would be to dut the DB9 plug off, pick out 6 wires, line them up the same way at each end and crimp a new plug on.

Personally, I'd just buy a 6p6c cable at Radio Shack.

 What system is this for? The only system that uses an RJ11 for the serial port is CVP Easy-DCC. The correct pinouts for the cable are on page 143 of the manual.

You can buy premade or "ready to pin" RJ45 to DB9 "hoods" from DigiKey, Jameco, or Mauser. We use them on old serial network Linux POS systems. The ready to pin, has the DB9 end pins loose, so you can put them in what ever positions you need in the plug.

The RJ11 plug will fit in the RJ45 jack. it will bend two of the RJ45 connecing "springs" but you shouldn't need them.
